According to exhibits and information gleaned from the wonderful Pearl Museum in Papeete, Tahiti, Columbus gathered the finest of these treasures for himself and brought many back to Europe, where they were used in the crowns of European and Russian royalty as well as in important jewelry for the noble families.

Tahitian pearls, although known as black pearls, come in a vast variety of exciting rainbow hues.  Indigenous to the warm, calm, remote lagoons of French Polynesia in the South Pacific, these incredibly beautiful gems are born of the black lipped oyster, scientifically termed 'Te ufi is pinctada margaritifera'.

We buy our pearls directly at the auctions in Tahiti, where the finest pearls are auctioned three times a year, exclusively to a few distinguished dealers.  Designing and creating the settings are also handled in-house. Therefore we are able to offer high quality at reasonable prices because no middleman's' profits are involved.
